Join Gender Spectrum in collaboration with Dr. Diane Ehrensaft (author of Gender Born, Gender Made: Raising Healthy Gender-Nonconforming Children) for a full day workshop for professionals focused on effective collaboration across disciplines in service of the health and well-being of gender nonconforming children and youth and their families. This workshop is for those who currently work, or are interested in working, with gender nonconforming or transgender children and their families.
Seminar topics include:
- Key terminology and concepts related to gender and gender diversity
- Gender identity development in young children
- Decisional benchmarks for gender nonconforming youth
- Common misconceptions among parents and caregivers
- Current information on medical, legal, mental health and other issues
The workshop will suit the needs of those new to the topic as well as those with previous experience working with transgender or other gender diverse children and youth.
There will be ample question and answer periods to help practitioners and providers gain a better understanding of children who express gender variance, and more effectively determine which children might be candidates for social and/or medical transition.
