Contra Costa LGBTQ Youth Advocacy Collaborative
Contra Costa LGBTQ Youth Advocacy Collaborative: Helping families & communities accept & support our LGBTQ children. Moved by the high levels of risk and by groundbreaking research on the impact of family acceptance and rejection on the health of LGBT youth conducted by the Family Acceptance Project at SF State University, the Rainbow Community Center and the Contra Costa County Division of Mental Health launched the Contra Costa LGBTQ Youth Advocacy Collaborative to increase support and decrease risk for LGBTQ youth. Our primary goal is to improve the health of LGBTQ youth by reducing rejecting behaviors and increasing accepting behaviors in Contra Costa social and service networks.

The Transgender Law Center (TLC) is a civil rights organization advocating for transgender communities. Every day we connect transgender people and their families to technically sound and culturally competent legal services, increase acceptance and enforcement of laws and policies that support California's transgender communities, and work to change laws and systems that fail to incorporate the needs and experiences of transgender people.

Welcoming Schools offers tools, lessons, and resources on embracing family diversity, avoiding gender stereotyping and ending bullying and name-calling in elementary schools. Our Family Coalition
Our Family Coalition promotes the equality and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer families with children. We foster community leadership in advocacy efforts that promote social justice, and offer education and social networking support. Today Our Family Coalition provides a variety of vehicles for LGBTQ families with children to engage effectively in public education and advocacy efforts that challenge the bias and discrimination that affects them. We aim to reach a diverse grassroots base of LGBT families where they are and engage them in challenging the many societal barriers they face.
