Professional DevelopmentGovernment, Civic and Nonprofit Professionals
Government agencies, civic and other non-governmental institutions have specific concerns related to gender. Gender Spectrum has workshops for your specific needs.

Our experts have brought gender-inclusivity training to organizations as diverse as the U.S. Customs and Immigration Services, Kaiser Permanente Health, the Anti-Defamation League, State Departments of Education, and the Girl Scouts USA Gender Spectrum trainings can help your organization explore the ways that gender-inclusive practices can be applied to direct work with families and youth, local and state policies, and program development. We will  provide you with information, tools and resources needed to address gender-inclusion throughout your organization. In all of our work, we honor the diversity of your community and pay particular attention to the specific needs of racial, ethnic and cultural communities.

Our trainings include:

  • Gender 101: an introduction for your organization, to increase your team’s overall gender literacy and identify some basic practices for creating a gender-inclusive environment for all clients and staff.
  • “Ask-us-anything” confidential sessions with Gender Spectrum experts.
  • Gender audits for your programs and/or policies, including HR, outreach, and other areas.
  • Other trainings tailored to your specific needs.

In addition, our Gender Institute training focuses on issues specific to gender and your organization. Participants in this training will gain deeper understandings of gender, learn how to address new gender understanding in their work, and determine ways to make their workplace more gender inclusive. You will also have the option of continuing in our “training of trainers” workshop to develop the competencies needed to present gender-inclusive training to your staff.

Gender is complex, but it doesn’t have to be confusing. With the right guidance, your organization can gain a clearer understanding of gender and learn how it intersects with many aspects of your work. Organizations with a firm grasp on gender can improve staff recruitment and retention, provide improved services to clients, and strengthen relationships in the community.
