Transgender Awareness Week: Voicemail Series (An Ongoing Discussion About Gender)

Nov 18, 2016

Gender affects all of us. The Gender Spectrum Voicemail Series examines the intersection between gender and the different aspects of our daily lives. The series is meant to be easy to be a part of. As long as you have access to a phone, you can participate.

The voicemail series allows more people to share their story. We want to ensure that everyone and anyone can share. The series is meant to be anonymous, so please just leave a message. No names or anything too personal to give away who you are. Your message may be posted online, so please share only what you want. We ask that you please be mindful of keeping your message appropriate to all audience members.

Our current prompt for the series is: What does being a trans, non-binary, or gender-expansive person of color mean to you or what does being an ally of a trans, non-binary, or gender-expansive person of color mean to you?

Click here to listen to our playlist of voicemails or play below.

It’s not too late to submit your voicemail. To participate in the project, call: 510-987-8600.

Our prompts will change on a regular basis. Be on the lookout for our upcoming series in December asking, “How do gender roles and stereotypes impact you or your family’s’ celebration of the holidays?”
