Volunteers Needed for the Gender Spectrum Conference

Our annual Conference and Professionals’ Symposium will take place this year on Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8 at St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, and we need you to help make these events a success!

Last year, nearly 1,000 people attended the weekend Conference, which includes adult workshops on gender and supportive practices, programs for all ages, from infants to High School students. The Conference is preceded by a Friday Professionals’ Symposium for all youth-serving professionals who are interested in the latest strategies for gender-inclusive programs and gender-affirming practices.

Volunteers truly make these events possible. Volunteering is a great way to experience the events, meet incredible experts in the field, and share conversations with others who work with families with Transgender, nonbinary, and Gender-expansive children. Even more, it’s an opportunity to serve as a role model for young people and to make a lasting impact on the youth who attend. We need volunteers who have experience working with youth, and we also need help with art, facilities/AV support, Spanish translation, registration and general support.

If you or anyone you know are interested in volunteering or learning more, please see our volunteer application here.

Want to know what volunteering is like? Hear our talk with Marla Fisher, who has been a volunteer at the Conference for the past five years.

To ensure that our youth and their families see themselves reflected in our staff and volunteers we prioritize placing trans, Non-binary and gender expansive volunteer applicants. It is important to us to have volunteers who bring diverse perspectives in terms of race and ethnicity, Gender identity and expression, socioeconomic background, age, language, and other areas.
